Who is Patrick Collins?

I retrained with the Surrey College of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy — a rigorous, wide-ranging programme covering not just hypnotherapy, but Solution Focused Therapy, CBT, NLP, Rapid Transformational Therapy, Positive Psychology, EFT and EMDR. I didn't choose it because it was the easiest route. I chose it because it gave me a full toolkit — and because I believe you deserve more than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Before all of this, I spent decades in high-tech manufacturing, eventually reaching the board of directors of a company acquired by Private Equity. I hold a PhD in Astrophysics. I know what high-functioning anxiety looks like — because I lived it for years without ever naming it. I know what burnout feels like from the inside. And I know how the pressures of career, family and life have a way of quietly accumulating until something gives.

That lived experience is part of everything I bring to my practice.

Hypnotherapy still carries myths — stage performers, swinging watches, loss of control. The reality couldn't be more different. Every client remains completely aware and in control throughout. Think of it less as something done to you, and more as a deeply focused state that lets us access and rewrite the patterns holding you back — backed by solid evidence and decades of clinical research.

In 2020, during the first Covid lockdown, I had a heart attack. I was a company Director, had worked my way to the board, survived a Private Equity takeover, and had spent years telling myself that the stress, the pressure and the relentless pace were just part of the deal. My body disagreed. (see my article here)

That moment forced me to stop — and to remember something I had almost forgotten. Years earlier, when two of my children were struggling — one with anxiety, OCD and ADHD, another with a serious eating disorder — hypnotherapy had been quietly, powerfully transformative for them. At the time I filed it away under "grateful it worked" and carried on. The heart attack made me go back and look properly. What I found changed the direction of my life.

Over the past four years, I have provided over 200 hours of one-to-one clinical hypnotherapy, helping my clients find calm and clarity — often after years of struggling alone. I specialise in anxiety, addiction and performance issues, and work with a wide range of other challenges too. Using hypnosis as the foundation — and evidence-based tools including NLP, CBT and EMDR to deepen and accelerate the work — I offer something that goes well beyond a traditional hypnotherapy session.

I bring genuine empathy, unconditional positive regard and deep understanding to every session. You are not a case to be managed. You are a person with a story — and you deserve to be heard.

I have lived in Horsham for more than 30 years and work with clients locally and online.
